PCHand Media Converter Free is a free multi-format video converter. It has support for a lot of different video formats. It can open pretty much any standard video format, including MPEG-4, H.264, XviD, DivX, MKV, and FLV, among others. It has a very standard graphical user interface with a built-in video player and quite a few conversion profiles. The supported output formats are MPEG-4, H.264, M4V, AVI, DivX, XviD, WMV, FLV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MKV, and 3GP for video and MP3, AAC, and AC3 for audio.
The graphical user interface is simple, but it is still intuitive and I don't completely dislike it. You can add as many files to it as you want, and they will be listed in the middle of the screen. At the bottom you will see the conversion profiles. There aren't any profiles for specific devices, but you can convert to any of the supported formats and edit the profiles if you click on the "settings" button. From there you can change video resolution and quality.
In my testing, I used an MKV file and I converted it to the standard MPEG-4 (MP4) conversion profile. The whole process took over a minute and I thought that was on par with other converters I have tried in the past. The resulting file was playable on VLC. I had a problem with audio with my converted files. Audio cut off at the end of the file on two different tries with different input formats. I tested several video players just to make sure.
